The Hanbury Club

A new late night members' club uniquely located at the far end of Brighton's sea front within a beautiful Grade II listed building. The venue, formerly the Hanbury Ballroom, has been totally refurbed in the best possible taste by the award winning owners of Blanch House. A bespoke cocktail list is very much focused on gins with a great selection of Gintime favourites in signature concoctions such as the 'Meadow Vesper' and 'Rosemary's Baby'. The vibe is reminiscent of glamorous, old school supper clubs such as the Pigalle in London with an eclectic choice of entertainment including live music, film noir, games such as Kerplunk and Cluedo, cabaret, burlesque, a supper club on Fridays and Saturdays not to mention big name DJs regularly on the decks. The Hanbury is open to non-members too so there's no excuse for not checking it out.

The Refectory

Here's a great idea - a cocktail bar located in the heart of a Distillery. Not just any old distillery either but the historic Blackfriars Distillery, home of Plymouth Gin in Devon, one of the oldest working distilleries in the country. The Refectory is the very oldest part of the distillery complex and dates back to the fifteenth century. It is said to be the place where the Pilgrim Fathers spent their last night on English soil and is steeped in history. Today that very room is a fabulously stylish bar with a gorgeous cocktail list of great Plymouth Gin specialties. Bar staff John, Matt and Magda are always friendly, open to answering any questions, happy to let you try new things and generous with advice. The Refectory is a members' bar after 7.00 pm but temporary membership is usually available on the night. Take it from us there are few finer places to have the perfect cocktail than at the home of Plymouth Gin and we heartily recommend the unmissable Martini 5:1 - a combination of Plymouth Navy strength and Noilly Plat vermouth.
