We’d love to have been along for the ride when the Beefeater team met with cocktail maestro Dre Masso to devise new cocktails to highlight the warm flavours of the new Beefeater Winter Gin edition. And here are the results – gorgeous drinks to cheer you up especially when it’s cold outside.
Winter Punch
- 50ml/2oz Beefeater Winter Edition Gin
- 100ml/4oz Madeira
- 10ml/½ oz lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 clove
- Lemon twist
- Orange twist
Method: Gently warm all ingredients in a saucepan, taking care to not let the mixture boil. Once warm, serve in punch or toddy cups.
Hot Apple Gin
- 1 part Beefeater Winter Edition Gin
- 3 parts pressed apple juice
Method: Pour gin into a cup, and add warmed apple juice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a grating of nutmeg.
Christmas Kiss
- 50ml/2oz Beefeater Winter Edition Gin
- 50ml/2oz cranberry juice
- 50ml/2oz ginger ale
Method: Pour the gin and cranberry juice into a highball glass over ice. Top with ginger ale and garnish with a squeeze of lime.
New Year in Lambeth
- 50ml/2oz Beefeater Winter Edition Gin
- 25ml/1oz Plymouth Sloe Gin
- 50ml/2oz apple juice
- 15ml/½ oz lemon juice
- 10ml/½ oz sugar syrup
- 50ml/2oz Champagne or sparkling wine
Method: Add the first five ingredients into a highball glass and stir. Fill the glass with ice and top with Champagne. Garnish with an orange wheels.
Winter Kir Royal
- 25ml/1oz Beefeater Winter Edition gin
- 25ml/1oz Plymouth Sloe gin
- 100ml/4oz Champagne or sparkling wine
Method: Pour the two gins into a Champagne flute, and top with Champagne. Garnish with a blood orange twist.
Juniper Eggnog
- 50ml/2oz Beefeater Winter Edition Gin
- 50ml/2oz milk
- 50ml/2oz cream
- 1 egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 clove
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
Method: In a saucepan, gently heat the milk, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla essence, removing just before it comes to the boil. In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar and egg yolk until fluffy, and slowly add to the saucepan. Gently heat until it forms a custard texture, then take it off the heat, strain, and refrigerate for a couple of hours. Add the gin and cream, and return back to the fridge overnight. Serve in cups with a grating of nutmeg and a juniper berry.
Fashionably Ginger
- 50ml/2oz Beefeater Winter Edition Gin
- 10ml½ oz Crème de Cacao (Brown)
- 5ml/1 bar spoon Monin gingerbread syrup
- 1 dash Regan’s Bitters
Method: Stir all ingredients slowly, over ice, in an Old Fashioned/rocks glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick & large orange twist
Winter Gin Sangaree
- 60ml/2oz Beefeater Winter Edition
- 25ml/1oz Tawny Port
- 5ml/1 bar spoon sugar syrup
Method: Pour all ingredients into a large wine glass, and fill with crushed ice. Churn, add more ice and garnish with a large orange twist and a grating of nutmeg.
