Great to see the fame of Gintime has spread to Helsinki, one of the coolest cities on the planet. And in a city of cool the A21 Cocktail Lounge is rated as a seriously stylish hangout. Opened in summer of 2007 by four of Helsinki’s top bartenders, A21 has already established itself as Helsinki’s best cocktail spot. The drinks list features not just the classics but also a selection of Finnish tipples. Drinks that were popular in the late days of the 19th century – the first Golden Age of Cocktails – are a big speciality here so if you’re at all interested in the glory days of the cocktail, you really need to go. Despite being housed in a former sex shop, the interior is incredibly elegant and attractive. If you want privacy with a date or a small group of friends, then make sure you grab one of the comfy booths, curtained off with white silk. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is exclusive and naturally you’ll find a load of fantastic Gintime gins behind the bar. Try the house speciality, the Rönnvik Martini, made with cloudberry jam.
