Christmas Cocktails – 2009

It’s never too early to plan your Christmas cocktail party. Well okay maybe we are being a bit premature but as the department stores have their decorations up, the gloves are off! So we’ve got a selection of winter chillers, warmers and sparklers to get the season going with a swing!


Elderflower Bright StarElderflower Bright Star

Get the party started with this zingy and refreshing cocktail from Monin Elderflower Syrup.

  • 30 ml Monin Elderflower syrup
  • 40 ml gin
  • 60 ml pear juice

Pour all the ingredients into your shaker, and then serve in a wine glass.


Christmas Martini

A very simple, seasonal classic.

  • 20ml gin
  • 40ml cranberry juice
  • 10ml Grand Marnier
  • 10ml Lemon juice
  • Frozen cranberries to garnish

Shake the gin, cranberry juice, Grand Marnier and lemon juice over ice and strain into a martini glass. Float a few frozen cranberries on the top.


Hot Gin Toddy

A delicious late night pick me up then send me to bed drink.

  • 20ml gin
  • 5ml lemon juice
  • 20ml boiling water
  • 1 tsp sugar, unrefined works best
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Pour into a heatproof goblet, and serve.


Gin FixGin Fix

Chambord adds a Christmas kick to these zingy cocktails.

  • 20ml Gin
  • 5ml Triple Sec
  • 15ml pressed pineapple juice
  • 5ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 5ml Chambord
  • 5ml Sugar Syrup

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a Martini glass


Chambord Gin FizzChambord Gin Fizz

  • 20ml shots Gin
  • 10ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ fresh egg white
  • 5ml shot Chambord
  • Soda water

Shake first four ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled Collins glass. Top up with soda. Gently stir and enjoy!


The Sloe Royal

All Bar One are featuring this elegant seasonal cocktail on their Christmas menu but have been kind enough to share it with us. Simple ideas are often the best!

  • 25ml Sloe Gin
  • Topped with Mercier Champagne

Pour the Sloe gin into a Champagne flute and top up with fizz.


Gin-gle Bells

A great Christmas drink courtesy of Andy Campana at the Loft in Clapham.

  • 30ml Beefeater (or other citrus heavy gin)
  • 20ml Ruby Port
  • 5ml Phillips of Bristol Pink Clove Cordial
  • 20ml Demerara Sugar Syrup
  • 30ml Cranberry Juice
  • 3 mint leaves

Stir ingredients over ice, and strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.
